Day tour to Coptic Cairo

escort you in a tour to old Cairo to visit
"Coptic Cairo" where you will visit the "Hanging
Church" which is dating back to the 4th Century AD and was dedicated
to Virgin Mary and was built above the gatehouse of the ancient Roman fortress "Babylon"
.It contains 110 Holy icons depicting beautiful religious scenes and it
was the seat of the Egyptian pop.
Then visiting "Saint Sergius
Church” it is also famous
in Arabic language as Abu Sergah where inside it there is a crept and is believed
that the holy family stayed inside it for three months during their journey
into Egypt.
Then, visiting the Ben
Ezra Jewish Synagogue which
gained its importance from its Geniza (Store room) was found during the 19th
century containing a treasure of Hebrew secular
and sacred manuscripts it considered to be the oldest synagogue in Cairo.
And ending our tour with a visit
one of the most famous Coptic buildings in Cairo, The Monastery of St.
Simon the Tanner or “The Cave Church” which is located in el Mokattam
hills area near the Zabbaleen slum or Garbage City which is Cairo's largest garbage collectors area , where garbage
recycling is central to its population's economy. The Monastery and the church of St. Simon the Tanner was
built there inside the mountain to serve the big population of this are there. it
has an amphitheater with a seating capacity of 20,000. It is named after the
Coptic Saint, Simon the Tanner, who lived at the end of the 10th century and is
associated with the legend of the moving of the Mokattam Mountain. The
Monastery of St. Simon the Tanner include the St. Bola's Church, St. Marks
Church, and St. Simon the Tanner's Hall.
Then, ending the tour with taking a break at el Azahar Park
which is located on a hilly site in old cairo surrounded by the most
significant historic districts of Islamic Cairo. You will be able
to wander around the vast green area while seeing the great Islamic monuments
of Cairo.
